This month’s topic is “Census Records”. We’ll go through the changes in each U.S. census and the information you can find in each. We’ll also cover “substitute censuses” which are the Veteran’s Schedule, Agricultural Schedule, Manufacturing Schedule, and Mortality Schedule. There is no cost to attend, but free-will donations are accepted. Please let us know you hope to attend so we have enough handouts!

Join us for an evening of fun, playing games of yesteryear. A joint effort by the Amery Public Library and the Amery Area Historical Society - to be held at the Amery Public Library. We’ll have on hand games like pick-up sticks, jacks, Chinese checkers, marbles, cat’s cradle, and more!

Class is intended for beginners to experienced and will cover birth, marriage, and death records; ethnic naming conventions; and include handouts with tips and tricks and dozens of websites that will help you build your family tree. Have you ever wanted to research your family tree but didn't know where to start?  The Amery Historical Society is offering an adult beginners' class in genealogy on Saturday, January 25, 2025 from 10am-Noon.  Topics will cover setting up an account, building a family tree, using search engines to find information, and general tips and tricks.  Participants must bring their own laptop; handouts will be provided.  Cost is $20 and goes to support the Amery Historical Society.  Class size is limited to 12.  To secure your spot, send payment along with your full name and email to AAHS, PO Box 465, Amery, WI 54001.  You will receive an email confirmation.
